At just 23 years old, one woman found herself tangled in a surreal encounter that left her questioning her instincts and the people around her. Living alone, she had recently experienced a terrifying issue with one of her electrical outlets, which she described as ‘exploding’ at times. The fear of a potential fire loomed over her daily life, prompting her to reach out for help.

Her father, who usually handled all communication with her landlord, stepped in when she sent him pictures of the damaged outlet. To her surprise, the landlord called her directly, a move that made her uneasy. He informed her that an electrician would be coming by—a man he described as older and nervous about climbing stairs. With a sense of urgency about the situation, she agreed to meet the electrician, reasoning that it was better to fix the problem than to let it fester.

When the appointed hour arrived, she descended the stairs to meet the electrician, an elderly man in his 70s who was shaky but able to walk. She helped carry his bag as he navigated the staircase, feeling a mix of concern and curiosity about this stranger who was now entering her home.

Once inside, the man sat down to catch his breath and began sharing stories about his health issues and loneliness. It quickly became apparent that he was not just there to fix a socket. He made an unexpectedly direct proposal: he was looking for someone to come by weekly to cook and clean. He assured her several times that he didn’t require anything sexual in return, stating, “I don’t even need sex, I don’t need anything. I will pay.” This repeated insistence raised her eyebrows.

As he wandered around her apartment, he grew increasingly familiar, even grabbing her hand at one point, attempting to kiss it while saying, “Don’t be scared of me.” She was taken aback but initially brushed it off, attributing his actions to old-fashioned manners. However, his subsequent insistence about finding a woman for his cooking and cleaning arrangement began to set off alarm bells. She felt the urge to ask him to leave but hesitated, worried about how to safely escort him out without escalating the situation.

While examining the electrical issue, he casually mentioned that he had been in her apartment before and dropped a bombshell: “I even have the keys to this apartment, but don’t worry haha.” He even pretended to look for the keys in his pockets, claiming they were probably in a box at his home. The casual nature of his comment made her blood run cold, and she simply nodded along, her mind racing with concern.

As their time together came to an end, he positioned himself in front of the door, seemingly blocking her exit. He kissed her hand again and turned to kiss her cheek goodbye. Just when she thought he would finally step aside, he grabbed her face with both hands and leaned in for a kiss. This took her completely by surprise; her instincts kicked in, and with her free hand, she pushed his face away. “You are a nice girl anyway,” he muttered as she tried to regain her composure.

Once outside, he repeated his request for a housekeeper, but she chose to remain silent, her mind already racing with thoughts of how to process what had just happened. The bizarre encounter left her shaken. Her instincts had been right all along, but the immediate worry of a fire had clouded her judgment.

After the unsettling experience, she reached out to her landlord, who reassured her that the elderly man no longer had the keys to her apartment. Despite his reassurances, her skepticism grew, making her question what she could trust. She wished she had recognized the red flags sooner but felt the weight of urgency had clouded her judgment.

This encounter served as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of strangers and the importance of being cautious, even in situations that seem straightforward. The world was filled with complexities that could lead to moments she’d rather forget.
