According to his Instagram reel, @kendonmartin spent the weeks before a proposal filming himself get ready for it, and the caption he put on the finished video is three words and an ellipsis: “Cried like a baby…”. The reel opens on the end result, a woman in a cream dress with a fringed hem standing under a stone archway beside banks of white flowers, with the on-screen label “The proposal.” Then it rewinds.

The first chapter is labeled “1 month before…” and shows him talking straight to the camera in a bright building with a skylight ceiling. The next one, “Dinner with her parents!”, has him in a white linen shirt in front of a woven wicker wall, again speaking to the camera. The reel has no readable spoken captions, so what he says in these scenes is not something the video lets a reader quote. What it does show is the order he chose to tell the story in: the date first, then the people he had to talk to before it could happen.
A car ride comes next, labeled “Mom’s favorite song came on…”, and his face goes through several expressions while he talks. After that the reel moves to the preparation itself. There is a quiet wooden table with a row of wine bottles behind it and a book on top. There are computer screens filled with images of a stone terrace glowing with candles and flowers. There is a close-up of a ring box, open, with a large ring set with an elongated stone. Then comes a group video call with four women smiling into their cameras, and a woman in a gray sweatshirt laughing at her phone with a small window of a man in the corner of the screen.
The last stretch is the walk-through. A label reads “Checking the location…” over an empty stone terrace with planters. Another reads “Final look” over a railing lined with white flowers and a wide view of the sea, and then over a man in white holding a violin among the blooms. The reel closes on the woman in the cream dress walking toward the archway, with the text “To be continued…”. It stops before the question is asked.
The continuation exists, though it was posted from the woman’s own account. On September 27 she shared a 55 second film with the caption “Home is you, @kendonmartin 🤍 Thank you for thinking of every detail to make this the most special moment. 🥹” and the hashtags #Part2, #Engagment and #Capri. Its frames show him in a dark vest over a white shirt on one knee at the terrace railing while she covers her face with her hands, a ring being slipped onto a finger, him wiping his eyes, and her being lifted off the ground. Later shots show the two holding hands against the sunset light, a kiss on the forehead, and the pair standing together at a stone balustrade. The film ends with a wide shot of them dancing hand in hand on the terrace, then an aerial view of cliff top buildings and the coastline at golden hour. The violinist from the first reel is in it too.
The two videos together make a usable template for anyone planning a proposal. The reel’s own chapter titles, a month out, the parents, the location check, the final look, are the order of operations: tell the people who matter first, lock the setting, then walk it once more with every element in place before the guest of honor arrives. Notice also that the video call with friends appears in the planning, not the proposal. Friends who cannot travel can still be part of the day without standing on the terrace.
Neither video names the venue, so the details below are offered as an example of what a cliff top Capri terrace involves, not as a claim about where this proposal took place. According to the Caesar Augustus hotel’s website, the hotel is in the town of Anacapri, “perched on the edge of a 300 meter high cliff, directly above the sea,” and it calls itself the most panoramic hotel on Capri. The hotel’s page for its terraces describes views across the Bay of Naples. Its location page adds a practical note that is easy to overlook in a proposal plan: because the terraces sit on the cliff edge, guests are advised to bring a light layer for the evening, since sea breezes can be strong. A dress that looks right at the final look may need a wrap for the actual hour.
Travel time is the other fixed point. The same page gives boat times to the island of 25 minutes from Sorrento and 50 minutes from Naples, which matters when family and a violinist all have to arrive before the person being surprised. The hotel’s pages do not mention proposals or weddings, so anyone planning an event at a venue like it should ask the venue directly what it allows on its terraces rather than assume. Neither video says who arranged the flowers, the violinist or the terrace, and the caption on the second part credits the proposer with thinking of every detail.
