Creator @paigedav titles her just under three minute Instagram reel “Get Ready With Me to Get Stood Up,” and the caption leaves no suspense: “And there you have it. I got stood up.” Instagram’s page for the post also carries an “AI content” label, so it is worth saying plainly that everything below comes from the creator’s own caption, the text on screen and what the frames show, presented as her account of the night.

The reel opens on a title card in looping script, “Get Ready With Me,” with a red “To Get Stood Up” label beneath it. She talks to the camera in a dark strapless top under purplish light, gesturing as she tells the story, and an on screen timestamp reads 9:30pm. A second stamp reads 9:31pm. By 9:47pm the footage has cut to a dark street with a white SUV parked at the curb and the text “Truly couldn’t get worse.” The next scenes show her wrapped in a white duvet, then in navy pajamas with a spoon and a cup, then, in a bright, high ceilinged space with steel columns behind her, with her hair in a ponytail, a wireless earbud in and a plain white T shirt on, telling the rest of the story straight to the lens for roughly the last two minutes.

Messages shown on screen fill in the timeline. One thread, shown about a minute and a quarter in, includes a note from the man that he is on the way and just coming from work, and a reply of “See you soon.” An incoming call banner flashes up a few seconds later. A second pair of texts has a line about being “about to go on my second” drink and then, “Hey if you’re not close, I’m gonna head out.” Late in the reel, an on screen line from her says the man unmatched her too, so she cannot even report him now. She does not show or name the man, and neither does this article.

Then she adds up the night with an on screen receipt. One tequila cocktail is $25. A shrimp cocktail is $26. An Uber there is $18 and an Uber back is $18. The final line reads “Total: $104 with tipping,” stamped with the same red “To Get Stood Up” label that opened the video. Near the end a text overlay asks, “Please everybody tag Bumble in the comments.”

Her caption explains the question behind it. She says she has received many messages from women saying the same thing has happened to them and that she wants to understand why. Her direct question to men reads, “Why ask someone out, make plans with her, let her spend time getting ready and traveling there, and then just… not show up?” She draws a line between acceptable and not: “Changing your mind is allowed. Losing interest is allowed. CANCELING IS ALLOWED.” What she objects to, she writes, is “leaving someone sitting there alone with absolutely no explanation.” She asks followers to tag Bumble “to get their eyes on this,” and closes with the line “This is dating in 2026, everybody,” followed by a profanity that is not quoted here.

Her on screen complaint about not being able to report the man is one place where the platform’s own rules are useful to know. Bumble’s help center says that if you have unmatched someone and can no longer see their profile or conversation, the in app report option is not available, and you should contact Bumble Support instead. It asks you to include as much detail as you can, such as the person’s name, your reason for reporting and screenshots of your conversation, and it says reports are private and anonymous. The help page sets no time limit for doing this after an unmatch, so saving screenshots before a match disappears is the practical move.

The tally in her video points to a habit worth borrowing. Before you leave for a first meeting with someone new, you can ask for a quick confirmation closer to the time, pick a place where you can wait comfortably without ordering much, and choose a ride plan that does not leave you stranded. In her video the cost came from one drink, one appetizer and two rides. If you are the one whose plans change, her caption states the standard she is asking for: say so, even if it is awkward.
