It was the last day before summer vacation, and excitement buzzed through the school halls. Students were chatting, laughing, and enjoying their free time. Among them was a student who had just finished a class. She frequently went out of school to soak in the last moments of the school year, and during one of her outings, she accidentally made eye contact with a man sitting in a car not too far away.

This man was parked a couple of signals away from the school, his car stopped at the pedestrian sidewalk. He was older, perhaps in his late forties or early fifties. At first, the student didn’t think much of it. She was used to being stared at and assumed he was just another driver waiting for the light to change. However, as the day progressed, things took a turn that would make her second guess her initial impressions.
After a while, she was joined by an acquaintance who was also eager for summer break. They chatted for a good five minutes, during which the acquaintance mentioned that her husband would be coming to pick her up soon. The student found it sweet and was genuinely happy for her. Moments later, the acquaintance spotted her husband’s car and headed over to meet him.
As she approached the vehicle, the student noticed the husband for the first time. He didn’t glance at her as his wife walked to the car, which struck her as odd, considering the previous awkward encounter. The husband seemed somewhat indifferent, but the student thought nothing of it then. After saying goodbye to her friend, she decided to linger at the school for a little longer, hoping to see someone she knew before leaving.
However, about fifteen minutes passed, and when she finally stepped outside again, she was startled to see the same car parked nearby once more. The husband was sitting inside, and this time, he was looking directly at her. Her heart raced as he caught her eye, and in that moment, she felt a chill. It wasn’t the friendly glance of an acquaintance but something more unsettling. The man laughed in a way that felt strange, and it sent a wave of discomfort through her. Without wasting a second, he drove away, leaving her in a state of shock.
Another girl standing nearby noticed the interaction and seemed just as freaked out. “Did he just laugh at you?” she asked, her voice tinged with disbelief. The student nodded, still trying to process what had just happened. The laughter echoed in her mind, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off about the whole situation.
In the days that followed, she couldn’t help but think about the encounter. Why had he returned after picking up his wife? He had enough time to just leave, yet he chose to come back and watch. It was at that moment she began to piece together a more troubling picture: how did he know the school’s schedule? What if he was keeping tabs on the students in the area? Was it a coincidence that he seemed to know exactly when school let out?
Feeling uneasy, she decided to share her experience on a different forum for advice. She was curious to hear if others had experienced similar situations or had any insights into what she had witnessed. Yet, the responses she received were mixed; some users dismissed her concerns as overreacting, insisting he was just waiting for his wife and she was reading too much into it. “You’re being paranoid,” one user wrote, while another mentioned, “He probably just finds the school traffic annoying.”
But that didn’t sit well with her. She understood their point but couldn’t ignore her instincts about the strange laughter and how he’d returned just to see her. It all felt too calculated, and despite the dismissive comments, she couldn’t shake the feeling that the man could be potentially creepy. After all, knowing the school schedule and watching students could easily cross into unsettling territory.
As summer approached, she found herself increasingly aware of her surroundings and more cautious than before. While others enjoyed their freedom from classes, her thoughts often drifted back to that man in the car, wondering if she would ever see him again and what his true intentions might be.
