In a bustling 2BHK apartment, four flatmates lived together: F1, F2, F3, and F4. Among these friends, F3 had been observing a pattern that increasingly irked him—F1 had a habit that was causing significant discomfort in their shared living space. F1 had recently started dating someone, and whenever she came over to visit, F1 felt entitled to rearrange the entire apartment according to his whims.

It all began when F1’s girlfriend started staying over frequently, turning their once peaceful flat into a revolving door of awkward interactions. As it stood, F1 would expect F2 to vacate their shared bedroom whenever his girlfriend was around, heading off to find a couch or a quiet corner in the flat to sleep in. This arrangement worked for a while—until it didn’t.
One day, F3 returned home unexpectedly early from a trip. He was greeted by a sight that threw him off—F2 was sprawled out on F4’s bed, clearly using the space as a makeshift sleeping area while F1 and his girlfriend occupied the other bedroom. Confused, F3 asked what was happening. F1, with a nonchalant shrug, replied with a curt “What’s your problem?” as if the situation was perfectly normal and acceptable.
F3 felt his irritation bubble up, wondering how F1 could be so dismissive of others’ comfort. It turned out that F4 had agreed to let F2 sleep in his bed for a couple more days, which only added to F3’s frustrations. Why was F1 allowed to disrupt everyone’s lives whenever his girlfriend decided to visit? It seemed to him that F1 had forgotten they were all living in the same space, with each flatmate deserving their own comfort and privacy.
To complicate the situation even further, F3 found himself grappling with another layer of tension. The brother of F1’s girlfriend was in F3’s class. That connection made the whole situation feel even messier, as F3 knew the girlfriend’s family had no idea about their daughter’s relationship. While thoughts of exposing their secret relationship flitted through F3’s mind in moments of anger, he quickly dismissed the idea as reckless. Yet, the more he observed F1’s behavior, the more tempting it became to reveal the truth just to shake things up a bit.
F3 felt caught between wanting to confront F1 and the fear of causing unnecessary drama. He considered a house meeting, where they could lay down some ground rules for guests to avoid any more awkward sleeping arrangements. After all, it seemed only fair to establish boundaries that everyone could respect. But then again, F3 wondered if it would even make a difference. Would F1 just shrug it off again? Would F2 be put in an uncomfortable position where he had to choose sides?
As F3 walked around the flat, he felt the tension simmering beneath the surface, like a pot about to boil over. He didn’t want to feel like a tenant who was constantly on edge every time F1’s girlfriend planned a visit. F3 and F4 had their own lives to live, and the disruptions were becoming untenable. It was as if F1 was the sun, and everyone else was just orbiting around his whims, forced to leave their own comfort zones.
With each passing day, F3 contemplated what to do next. Should he directly confront F1 and risk igniting a conflict that could disrupt their living arrangements? Was it time to hold a house meeting and lay down some ground rules? Or should he just let it go—after all, chaos sometimes seemed like a default state in shared living situations, didn’t it?
Ultimately, F3 knew he needed to make a decision. The status quo was starting to wear thin, and he wasn’t sure how much longer he could put up with the arrangement without saying something. As he headed to bed that night, he left his past frustrations and future decisions tumbling around in his mind, contemplating just how to approach the situation without causing unnecessary upheaval.
