Teacher lecturing students in a classroom setting.

For context before diving into this wild and somewhat gross story, it’s important to know that the student in question had a history of severe nosebleeds due to high blood pressure. These weren’t your run-of-the-mill minor incidents; they were the kind that would sometimes leave him sent home by the school. Most of his teachers were understanding of his condition, allowing him to leave the classroom without fuss whenever his nose decided to put on a bloody show. However, one particular teacher had a strict no-interruption policy, and that’s where things went hilariously sideways.

Professor lecturing to students in a lecture hall.

Imagine this scenario: it’s a regular school day, and our protagonist is sitting in this teacher’s class, dutifully taking notes. Everything seems relatively normal until, out of nowhere, his nose starts bleeding. He’s no stranger to this, so he tries to act calmly, pinching his nose in an effort to stem the flow. But even after just moments, he realizes that the damage is done; blood is already trickling down, marking up his notes like a twisted watercolor painting.

Feeling the urgency of the situation, he raises his hand, hoping to get the teacher’s attention. However, she’s in the middle of her lecture, completely ignoring the fact that he’s sitting there, red-handed—literally. For about five to ten minutes, she continues to lecture, clearly oblivious to the growing mess that is quickly becoming harder to ignore.

After what felt like an eternity, the teacher finally acknowledges him with a dismissive wave, telling him she will answer his question when she’s finished. At that moment, he decides to embrace his petty side. He thinks, “Alright, I’ll just sit here and bleed all over my desk,” because why not? Although he tries to apply pressure, the blood continues to seep out. It doesn’t take long before both of his hands and forearms are glistening with a mix of fresh and dried blood, and the desk is getting a makeover that even Jackson Pollock would envy.

At this stage, he had become an unwilling participant in his own grotesque art project. As blood drips from his elbows, he switches hands to minimize the mess, with no intention of letting it pool on the floor. He just hopes he can maintain some degree of dignity in this bizarre scenario. Eventually, after what felt like forever, the teacher wraps up her lecture and decides to address him, asking if his question had been answered by her monologue.

With blood covering both arms, notes, and desk, he stands up, feeling a twinge of frustration mixed with a dash of childish amusement. He asks, “Can I be excused to go to the nurse’s office?” Her face turns a ghostly shade of pale as she finally registers the chaos unfolding before her eyes. With wide eyes, she exclaims, “Why on earth have you waited this long?! Go to the nurse’s office!”

As he makes his way out, he can’t help but think it’s a shame she didn’t notice sooner. The last thing he wanted was to leave a bloody trail for someone else to clean up. To add to the chaos, she sends one of his friends to escort him, worried he might collapse in the hall from blood loss. He chuckles inwardly, realizing he’s more concerned about the floor than his actual condition at this point.

In the aftermath of this bloodbath, the school administration decided it was high time to implement a new policy. From that day forward, students were allowed to leave the classroom to see the nurse without needing permission if they were bleeding. So, while his experience may have been messy and somewhat traumatic, it did lead to a positive change for those who might find themselves in a similar situation.
