The video opens with a hand holding a long bamboo pole over clear running water, and the first spoken line sets up the whole outing. “I went to this restaurant where you have to catch your own fish,” says the creator behind @mcfli_guy. The caption names the place as English Mountain Trout Farm.

He says the farm is in Sevierville, Tennessee, and that “in the back, there’s a huge pond full of rainbow trout.” The frames show the water packed with fish, a hand trailing in the shallows, and a wooden sign at the roadside.

The fishing part is quick. “They give you a bamboo pole to catch your own,” he says. “I caught mine pretty quick, and I was excited watching my wife catch hers.” On screen he raises the pole over his head in celebration, and another clip shows a man in a blue shirt reaching into the stream.

Cooking happens indoors. “Then you go inside and you choose how you want it cooked,” he says, listing “lemon, pepper, blackened or fried.” A close up of the menu shows a section headed Trout Dinners with those three styles, and a list of sides that includes cole slaw, mac and cheese, green beans, French fries and apple sauce. He adds that “there’s so many different side options.”

While the kitchen works, the video moves to the gem mine. He says that while the food is cooking, guests can go mining for crystals. Frames show him lifting a wooden sluice box under a covered stand and then holding up a large purple and white stone with his mouth wide open. “I found this huge Brazilian agate stone,” he says, “and everything you find, you get to keep.” A woman in glasses sifts through the water in the same wooden trough.

Then the food arrives, and the video slows down to show each plate. He lists fried green tomatoes (“so crispy and full of flavor”), a trout dip, and hush puppies. He says of the trout, “Fish fell right off the bone,” that “the seasoning was insane,” and that “the mac and cheese was so creamy and cheesy.” A plate of French fries and green beans sits beside a seasoned fillet. Dessert is an apple pie with ice cream and a caramel drizzle, which he calls “massive” and “so warm.” His closing line is that “everything was made from scratch,” and the last frame shows him grinning and giving a thumbs up.

One piece of context belongs to the plate rather than the pond. According to the federal food safety site FoodSafety.gov, fish should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit, or until the flesh is no longer translucent and separates easily with a fork. That applies whether the trout is lemon pepper, blackened or fried.

The sequence in the video also works as a template for a family day out. Catch first, so the fish is chosen and cooked while the group is busy. Pick a cooking style when ordering, since the menu in the video offers three. Use the wait for the gem mine, where, as the creator says, everything found can be kept. Then sit down to the meal.
