In today’s world, stories of entitled individuals can seem like mere figments of imagination. However, for one housing complex ride service driver, a day at work turned into a confrontation with a resident who felt his demands should take precedence over everyone else’s needs.

Working as a driver for residents in a housing complex, the driver provides a unique service, quite different from popular ride-sharing apps. This service is exclusively for residents, who often depend on it for necessary appointments, such as doctors’ visits. While the job is relatively straightforward, it can become hectic, especially since he is the only driver servicing a large number of clients. Delays can happen, but most residents are usually understanding and patient when it comes to waiting for their scheduled rides.
However, one resident, referred to here as Guy Fakename, had developed a reputation for being particularly demanding and impatient. During one of his rides, he expressed frustration when the driver informed him that he would need to wait for the driver to complete another commitment before picking him up. This reaction was both predictable and alarming for the driver, who had previously dealt with Guy’s entitled behavior.
In an attempt to manage expectations, the driver inquired about the duration of Guy’s appointment, knowing he had another client scheduled shortly thereafter. Guy, however, chose to respond with an ultimatum, insisting that the driver would need to wait for him regardless of the situation. The driver stood his ground, explaining that if the appointment took longer than expected, Guy would indeed have to wait.
As tensions rose, Guy’s frustration boiled over into a tirade filled with expletives, demanding that the driver cater to his whims. “I can’t believe you!” he shouted, and “You’re treating us unfairly!” echoed through the vehicle. It became evident to the driver that engaging in further conversation would be futile. Responding calmly, he stated that he wouldn’t continue the discussion. This only seemed to fuel Guy’s indignation.
Realizing the conversation was becoming unmanageable, the driver called his boss to report Guy’s aggressive behavior and threats of filing a complaint. His boss, understanding the seriousness of the situation, instructed him to cancel Guy’s ride and assured him they would handle the fallout.
Ironically, Guy did receive a ride home later that day, but from the boss himself. This time, his attitude was markedly different, as he was subdued and did not mention the earlier incident at all. However, the driver’s actions had already set the wheels in motion for consequences. After the driver detailed the incident, his boss and the management team decided to impose an indefinite ban on Guy from using the ride service, particularly considering his history of exceptional entitlement and aggression.
Guy later attempted to leverage a connection with a board member to challenge the ban, which led to a more formal review of the situation. Nevertheless, the driver’s account, combined with the supporting testimony from his boss and management, solidified the decision to maintain the ban. Thus, Guy remained restricted from using the service permanently, a testament to the organization’s commitment to ensuring a safe environment for both staff and residents alike.
Even years later, Guy continues to express his discontent towards the driver whenever their paths cross in the complex. While Guy attempts to undermine the driver’s reputation within the community, most residents are well aware of his antics and dismiss his claims. Ironically, the initial frustration caused by the driver’s simple acknowledgment of a possible wait time became the catalyst for Guy’s ban.
As for the driver, he reflects on the experience with a sense of satisfaction. The terms set for Guy’s potential return to the service included an in-person apology acknowledging his behavior, which the driver suspects he would rather avoid than comply with. The overall incident serves as a reminder that in any environment—especially within a close-knit community—entitlement can lead to serious repercussions.
