Oh, shoot, Reddit. A 36-year-old woman had never imagined she would find herself in such a bizarre situation, but here we are. She had enough knowledge from the myriad of AITA reactions online to understand that this was the perfect place to seek solutions. The trouble began when a new neighbor moved in, and things took a turn that she never saw coming.

Having lived in her apartment for several years, she was all too familiar with the thin walls that separated her from her neighbors. Every murmur of conversation and the clinking of dishes were audible, and she had come to accept that this was part of urban living. For the most part, she had been fortunate; her previous neighbors shared a mutual understanding: respect the quiet hours and let the occasional bass bump slide on a Friday night. But the arrival of a new neighbor, let’s call him “Doechiis,” changed everything.

It all started innocently enough. On one particular Saturday night at 8 PM, she heard the sounds of a movie blasting through the walls. “Alright,” she thought, “No big deal. We’ll see how this goes.” A week later, however, things took a turn for the worse when she heard him scream “COME ONNNNNuhhh!!!!!” followed by “DUDE?!?!.. WHAT THE F*CK?!?!” at the top of his lungs. She had to pause her show, wondering if he was okay or just heavily invested in whatever game he was playing. But as the minutes passed, it became clear that he was just really, really into gaming.

“Okay, I get it,” she thought. “I can relate! Sometimes Baby Mario really knows how to mess you up right before the finish line!” But those initial chuckles turned into an ongoing saga of frustration. For months now, her evenings had been punctuated by the constant barrage of profanity echoing through the walls. His exclamations were relentless as he berated what she could only assume were 12-year-olds in games like Valorant, Call of Duty, and Overwatch. Every other word was an expletive, and she couldn’t help but think he must have been saving them all up for this moment.

“OMFG WTF WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU F*CKING DOING BRO YOU F*CKING SUCK WHAT THE F*CK EVEN IS THIS F*CKING GAME?” The sheer volume was staggering, and at times, it was as if he was throwing a legitimate tantrum. She imagined him jumping up and down, shaking the very foundation of their shared building. Occasionally, she and her spouse would glance at each other mid-laugh, exchanging quips like “BRUH WHY IS YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE RN?!” But he never seemed to hear them, likely due to the noise-canceling headphones that seemed to be his lifeline.

While the couple usually found amusement in the spectacle, it was becoming a little concerning. In the weeknights, the cries lasted about an hour or two. However, on weekends, it stretched far longer—like the night she was penning this post at almost 11 PM, all while he continued his escalating screeching. The humor was wearing thin as the hours dragged on.

So, she turned to Reddit for solutions. The growing concern was not just about her sanity, but also about the overt bullying she was witnessing through the walls. Who screams such things at strangers in a video game? It made her suspicious of his character. Did he know how loud he was? Wasn’t he mortified at the prospect of strangers listening to his gaming meltdowns?

Complaining to the building management felt like an extreme step. She had no desire to get anyone evicted over a video game, especially not someone who seemed so passionate about their hobby. But there was a sense of urgency to take action. It was for the sake of all the bullied kids in the virtual world, right? Yet, she also didn’t want to create hostility with her neighbor, fearing repercussions that could come from confronting a screaming gamer.

Reddit was her last refuge, a place where she hoped to find a way to address the situation delicately. Surely, there had to be some creative solutions available! As she shared her saga, she pondered what her next steps should be. Could she find a way to maintain peace in her apartment while navigating the chaos outside her walls?
