Hi Reddit. This is a story that happened to a 19-year-old fitness trainer who prefers to remain anonymous. English isn’t her first language, so she asks for grace if there are any typos. She works at a gym located in a suburban neighborhood, while her home is in a newly built high-rise. Every day, she walks past familiar streets and a local school to get to her job.

Two days ago, her morning started off like any other. But the day took an unsettling turn when a new client arrived for a personal training session. He was a man, probably in his mid-twenties, tall, and sporting a thick beard. From the get-go, he exhibited unusual behavior, staring at her with an intensity that made her uneasy. When she stepped away to grab a cup of water, he nervously asked where she was going. The entire situation left her feeling on edge. Finally, she completed the session and was relieved to move on to her next client—a girl who was simply there to do her cardio workout.

Later that day, around 4:00 PM, during a break, she decided to take a walk to a nearby store to grab something to eat. As she walked, however, a heavy feeling settled in her stomach. It was as if someone was watching her. Once she entered the store, she felt a wave of relief but was still haunted by the sensation. As she browsed the ready-made meal boxes, her eyes scanned the aisles, and suddenly her heart dropped. There he was—the same man, this time dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and shorts. She recognized him instantly, not just for his height but also for his distinct beard. Feeling uncomfortable, she tried to remain calm, finished her shopping, and left the store as fast as she could.

After eating her meal, she made her way back to work. This time, she opted for the busier residential streets to avoid the emptier, darker roads. The rest of her shift went smoothly, and by 7:00 PM, she was packing her things to go home. The feeling of being watched had faded away, and she almost forgot about that man. But as soon as she stepped out of the gym, that chilling sensation returned. The street was poorly lit, with only a few streetlamps illuminating small patches of the sidewalk. She felt a sudden wave of anxiety wash over her.

As she walked through the first neighborhood, she noticed how deserted it was. Moving into the second area, she found it much brighter, with children playing and adults returning home from work. In an attempt to distract herself, she decided to pop into a grocery store to buy her favorite juice. But as she entered, her heart sank again. There he was, appearing right behind her, dressed in that all-too-familiar black hoodie and shorts. She pretended not to notice him, quickly browsed through the juices, and grabbed something for dinner, practically racing to the register to pay and get out.

When she finally arrived back at her building, she felt a mix of relief and dread. As she entered, opened the main entrance door, and stepped into the elevator, she thought she might finally be safe. She pressed her button, and just as the elevator doors began to close, she heard rapid footsteps rushing toward her. The man had dashed in behind her, slamming through the building entrance. In that moment, she froze, fixated on her phone as she desperately pretended he wasn’t there. The elevator ride felt like an eternity.

Finally, the elevator stopped at her floor. She stepped out calmly, her heart racing, and headed down the hallway to her apartment. To her relief, he didn’t follow her. Once she was inside, she locked every window and bolted the door, trying to calm herself. But she couldn’t shake the sheer panic that washed over her—a horrifying realization surfaced: now he knew exactly where she lived.

And there she sat, shaken, with the unsettling thought of having a stranger know her home address. The feeling of safety she once enjoyed was replaced by anxiety and fear, leaving her unsure of what to do next.
