While she maintained her stance on not covering basics, she couldn’t argue with the fact that he had played the game by the rules—or, at least, a version of them. “You know,” she began, a smirk creeping onto her face, “this isn’t exactly what I had in mind when I said no to those expenses.” Dave, for his part, just shrugged and replied, “Well, if it’s not covered, then I might as well make the most of what I can expense, right?”
In the end, there were no hard feelings from either side, just a shared acknowledgment of how they both played their parts in a somewhat amusing tale. Dave returned to his work, having learned that sometimes all it takes is a bit of creativity and a sprinkle of mischief to navigate the quirks of corporate life.
