Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream is recalling select Outshine frozen fruit bars nationwide over possible glass contamination, according to a recall notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recall covers six-count boxes of Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine, and Black Cherry fruit bars, along with a 24-count Variety Pack, according to the FDA’s posting. The affected products were sold in 2.5-ounce paddle-bar format and shipped to retailers across the country, the notice states.
Specific UPC codes flagged in the recall include 041548610047 (Strawberry), 041548244044 (Grape), 041548413624 (Watermelon), 041548000121 (Black Cherry), 041548612041 (Tangerine), and 041548816678 (Variety Pack). Affected batch codes range from LLA603840 through LLA621603, with best-before dates printed on the bottom of the box running from May 31, 2027, through November 30, 2027. Shoppers should check their freezers against those codes rather than relying on flavor alone, since not every lot of every flavor is included.
Dreyer’s, which makes Outshine, said in its own statement accompanying the FDA notice that the company is “taking this action out of an abundance of caution following consumer reports of glass found in the product.” The company added: “The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our highest priority. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause our consumers and retail customers.” Dreyer’s said no illnesses or injuries had been reported as of the recall notice’s posting.
The recall was first posted by the FDA on August 18, 2026, and has since been updated as more lot and flavor information became available, per the agency’s updated notice. Consumers who purchased any of the affected products are advised not to eat them. Instead, the FDA notice instructs customers to either dispose of the bars or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. The recall does not affect Outshine’s full lineup — flavors and formats not listed in the FDA notice remain on shelves.
