A skillet of cooked ground beef sits in a pool of rendered fat, and a man holds up a few small white cylinders over it. The 12 second TikTok comes from @614lyfe, an account that shows the name Noah Klein, and its caption promises a “Faster way to clean up cooking grease.” Yellow block text across the bottom of the frame sets up the story: “MY 1ST WIFE TAUGHT ME THIS LIFE HACK.”
He opens by naming the problem. “We all hate cooking grease,” he says. “It’s super hard to clean up.” Then he explains the trick in one breath: “Where you take these little paper towel thingies, you squeeze them, you throw them in, and then you just kind of mix it up.” The wording is his, and the video gives no other name for the product. On camera they are small, white and cylindrical, each with a thin string trailing from one end, and he pinches a few between his fingers before dropping them into the grease.
What happens next is the whole demonstration. A gray spatula pushes the pieces around the pan, and they take on liquid until they swell into puffy, golden lumps. “And look, they get bigger,” he says. Then comes the line that gives the clip its energy: “Presto, cambio!” A few seconds later the spatula lifts one out, soaked and dripping at the edge, and he finishes with the instruction: “Clean up the grease, throw in the trash.” The beef itself stays in the pan, and the grease pooled around it is visibly lower in the last frames.
His claim that this is faster is not tested against any other cleanup method on screen, and the clip does not show the pan afterward or say how many pieces he used.
One piece of context supports the final step. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says on its septic system care page that cooking grease or oil should never be flushed and that people should “never pour cooking oil or grease down the drain.” That page is written about septic systems and does not say where grease should go instead, so the trash disposal he shows is his own choice, not an EPA instruction.
A few cautions follow from what is on screen. The grease in the pan is hot, and the video shows no tongs or thermometer, only a spatula, so anyone trying this should let the pan cool a little first and keep fingers away from the fat. Whatever you use to soak it up should go into a bag or container before it reaches the trash can, so it does not leak.
