Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has introduced a new double-patty burger built around Applewood bacon and sharp cheddar, and paired the launch with the return of a fall-favorite frozen custard treat. The chain confirmed both additions in an official announcement distributed on PR Newswire.

The new item is called the Smoky Bacon Cheddar Stack. It layers two of Freddy’s hand-pressed steakburger patties with melted sharp cheddar, four slices of crispy Applewood bacon and grilled onions, finished with a newly created Smoky Fry Sauce and served on a King’s Hawaiian bun, according to the company’s release.

“Each bite delivers a perfectly savory taste complemented by our Smoky Fry Sauce,” Freddy’s Chief Marketing Officer Erin Walter said in the announcement.

Most quick-service chains treat a fall refresh as an excuse to pour pumpkin spice into an existing drink or swap in a limited-run dipping sauce. Freddy’s instead built an entirely new burger around a new sauce, doubling the patty count and using four full strips of bacon rather than a token slice.

Alongside the burger, Freddy’s brought back its Pumpkin Pie Concrete for the season. The dessert blends fresh vanilla frozen custard with a full slice of pumpkin pie, crust included, then tops it with whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon, per the release.

“The concrete has hints of spices including cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger,” said Rick Petralia, Freddy’s director of menu strategy and innovation.

The Smoky Bacon Cheddar Stack launched August 27 and was scheduled to run through December 30, according to the company. The Pumpkin Pie Concrete carried a shorter window, available through November 25, giving fall custard fans less time to order it before it disappeared from the menu.

Both items are available for dine-in, drive-thru and delivery through Freddy’s mobile app and website at participating locations across the United States and Canada, the chain said. Freddy’s has leaned into bacon-forward limited-time offers in recent years as a way to differentiate its steakburger lineup from bigger national chains that rotate sauces and toppings without changing the burger itself.

For a company built on a simple steakburger-and-custard format, stacking two patties, four bacon strips and a brand-new proprietary sauce into a single item is a heavier lift than a seasonal syrup pump, and it signals Freddy’s is treating fall as a menu-development season rather than a marketing afterthought.
