In a bustling downtown area of an unnamed city, two teenagers set out on what was supposed to be a straightforward lunch adventure. The duo, a teenage girl and her transgender friend, were simply looking to grab a bite and hang out, but what followed was an unexpected and unsettling experience.

The plan had been to grab a burger at a popular joint, but when they discovered it only accepted card payments, they quickly decided to find an alternative. As they wandered through the downtown streets, they stumbled upon an ice cream shop. It was there, near the entrance, that they first noticed her—a middle-aged blonde woman, seemingly engrossed in her phone. She was standing off to the side, not ordering anything, just staring down at her screen.

At that moment, the teens thought little of her presence. She seemed like just another passerby in the busy street. After enjoying their ice cream, they continued their exploration, now aiming for Wendy’s. Their casual outing took a more curious turn when they spotted the same woman again, still fixated on her phone. This time, however, it sent a slight chill down their spines.

“Wasn’t she in the ice cream shop?” the girl asked, glancing sideways at her friend, who nodded slowly in response. It was a small area, and the odds of running into the same person twice could easily be chalked up to coincidence, right? But the nagging thought of being followed lingered in the back of their minds. As teenagers, they frequently discussed the realities of safety in public spaces and how easy it could be to put themselves in a precarious situation.

The pair tried to shake off the unease. “It’s probably nothing,” the boy said, attempting to convince himself as much as his friend. After all, they were in a relatively busy part of the city, filled with people. They pushed forward, heading in the direction of Wendy’s. Yet, each time they turned around, the blonde woman appeared to be there as well, still staring at her phone.

Finally, they reached Wendy’s, feeling slightly unnerved but trying to dismiss it as paranoia. They ordered their food, sitting down to eat and pretend like nothing was wrong. As they chatted, sharing laughs and stories, their eyes occasionally drifted towards the area around them. To their shock, they spotted her again—standing in a corner, still glued to her phone.

At this point, the coincidences began to feel increasingly unsettling. “This can’t be just a coincidence anymore,” the girl whispered to her friend. They exchanged worried glances, the earlier lightheartedness of their outing quickly evaporating. What was this woman doing? Why was she so intent on just being around them? Their minds raced with thoughts about the potential dangers lurking in the world, especially for young teens.

The situation escalated as they recalled the stories they had heard about women being used as bait in abduction schemes. It was a terrifying thought, and their instincts kicked in. They decided to call their brothers, hoping one of them could come and get them. The girl, shaky and near tears, explained the situation over the phone, her voice barely above a whisper as she stammered about the woman who never seemed to leave their side.

While one of their brothers dismissed their fears as a prank, the oldest brother decided to come and pick them up. Relief washed over them as they waited anxiously at Wendy’s, casting wary glances towards the door, half-expecting to see the woman coming in. But when they finally left, she was nowhere to be found. They hurried home, still shaken, experiencing a range of emotions from confusion to fear.

When they arrived, their parents, preoccupied and a bit tipsy, brushed off their story as a wild imagination. No one seemed to believe the unsettling encounter they had faced together. Although it was likely just a series of coincidences, the experience left a significant mark on them. It became a haunting reminder of the unpredictable nature of the world, one that still creeps into their thoughts.

Despite the laughter they shared over the ice cream and burgers, that day served as a reminder that not all encounters in public are innocent, and sometimes the feeling of being followed is more than just a figment of imagination.
